Strategies for Success


It seems that all of you have been well-prepared for teaching Da-zhi kids English. You all did an excellent job as I had expected.

For our in-class discussion read Children learning English and What kind of learner are you?  that may help you reflect on how you have been studying English for perhaps more than a decade, how you are going to learn English, and how you’ll be going to facilitate your younger students to learn their first foreign language.

  1. We did finger paint tree this time and had fun.
    Because of typhoon, Monday is a day off I don’t know how to do with out my teammates before the day of teaching.

    today our teaching still didn’t went smoothly

    and the boy i had mentioned last week still didn’t want to tell any alphabet about his english name

    it made me feel a little trouble

    actually he did give us his Chinese name but we had no idea what to do with his English name

    furthermor since his incooperate with our teaching schedule

    some of other boys just imitated his action and movement without following the class

    and we were also worry about the content we have to teach in the future

    a lot of students mentioned that they had already learned what we taught when they were in kindergarton

    so i think we need to spend more time and do much more effort on this part

    how to catch their attention is part of we need to learn

  3. 上週的教學過程中..
    最讓我印象深刻的還是小朋友哭的事情..
    坐在後面的小男生 他是個過動兒
    他常常會和附近的同學吵架..
    而那天也不例外..

    在玩遊戲的過程中..
    前面的小女生把玩具傳給他時..
    他說那個小女生拿玩具打他!!
    跟著 在我們沒注意的時候..
    他打了那個小女生..
    使得那個小朋友嚎啕大哭..
    而我也在事後才去關心..

    因為沒仔細去注意..
    兩邊一直吵來吵去..
    當然 那個小男生都沒有人幫他說話..
    旁邊的其他同學都站在哭的那個小女生那邊
    說真的 其實我當時很尷尬
    因為從頭到尾我都沒去注意到
    如果單單憑旁邊的其他小朋友說的
    對那個小男生也很不公平
    所以我也只能安慰那個小女生..
    並告訴她我會把這件事跟班導說..

    可是我也沒有責怪或是處罰剛剛那個小男生..
    因為 打從第一堂課我們就發現
    班上其他學生本來就對他一些舉動很不耐煩
    絕大多數的時間
    都是那個小男生自己的狀況去影響別人比較多
    他也不肯低頭認錯

    會一直大聲說 ” 明明就誰誰誰先的好不好”..

    我想 下次遇到這種狀況
    我會像老師說的
    一定要他向對方道歉..
    而我們從這次經驗後
    也會在每次上課時..
    特別去注意他的狀況..

  4. 感覺上,大部分小朋友對語言還蠻有興趣且很有反應,似乎都很有基礎了,對我們在教學及活動進行還蠻順利的。同樣的,事前的準備完整就成為很重要的課題。

    基本上,這個班上的小朋友都還蠻配合的,除了一位小男生有點叛逆,需要很又耐心的跟他溝通,他才願意有所反應。有一兩位還蠻惜命的,一點小破皮就不願意動了,幸好這種情形只存在於非常少數,而沒影響活動的進行。
