Imagery is frequently employed in the book of Psalms in Hebrew Bible. Psalmists, writers of the psalms, use various animals and objects to express how they have felt about God himself, his presence, his strength or his help. For instance, David in Psalm 23 points out clearly that God is his shepherd and he his sheep; in other places, he mentions that God is his light that gives him directions out of darkness. By the same token, in Min’s Footprints on the Flag she thought of a national flag as a symbol of country citizens should honor and respect out of patriotism.
Think about objects that have symbolic value within our culture or your personal viewpoints and write a narrative in which you relate an experience you had with one (provided by the book).
