Learning English (Comparison and Contrast)

Comparison is to show the similarities between two things, while contrast is to look for differences. The writing topic this week is to find something to liken the process of learning English.

For instance, you might compare learning English to dating a girl. To start off, being successful in learning English is how to approach English, the way you study English; likewise, the way you approach a girl determines whether you can win the favor of her. Are you set apart from other men or suitors? Do you show your true colors? And in English, do you possess you personal unique learning styles?

Do not surrender or give up while learning English as busy schedules swallow up your study time. Similarly, work out dates with your girlfriend far in advance or keep them on a regular basis. Enjoy your time together. Make every moment you hand out together the best part of your day. As for learning English make your learning time enjoyable and engaging.

Lastly, while dating a gril, let her know of your future plans, goals, or ambitions. By the same token, you set up your goals and plans of learning English. Don’t get frustrated or upset even though you see no improvement or someone are better than you and moving ahead of you. Just believe! Dating a girl cannot be jealous. You have to trust her and care about her.

The above description of learning English and dating may sound weird to you, yet this is only a sample. What about you in terms of learning English?

    Learning English is like a cup of tea. Some people may think it’s bitter to drink; however, as for me, when I drink a while, I can taste that tea is not bitter but sweet actually. So does learning English, even though it’s difficult for me to study at the beginning, but later on when I get used to it, I experience that learning English brings a lot of fun to me.

    Learning English is like playing a basketball game. There are many people want to have the ball and shot it into the hoop. But there is always one winner in a basketball game. The basketball just likes English information and I am like the player. The information can go to everywhere and all I have to do is catching the ball and put it into the hoop just like put knowledge into my pocket. Learning English should be a joy and fun thing. And we should be willing to learn English.

    Learning English is like cooking. You cook everyday but you may not cook every dishes delicious. Just like learning Enhlish, you won’t enjoy it every moment. But after experience you can learn well and easy to learn from it. As you are cooking, when you have lot of experience you can cook well and also enjoy it very much.

    Learning English for me is just like a competition, you never know the result of the game. All you have to do is practiced harder and harder before the game. If you give up practicing for a long time, it is difficult to continue when you tried to learn it again. And you cannot win the race for yourself. Even though the process of the practice would be paining if you stick it out, the championship might be yours.

    I thought learning English is like mountain climbing. At first, when you go up the slope,you feel really exhausted and time-taking. As we know the process is pretty difficult . But at the end when you walk down the slope, it is much easier than go up the slope. Like the process of learning English, after all of these hard drills, your will sharpen your abilities. And you will own this language ability.

    Learning English is diving. You have to prepare yourself some tools. Diving is a new experience and fresh world. The deeper you dive, the more you see. It’s a discovering process, not only discover the sea but also yourself. You can know your ability and feel amazing about the things you discover.     I think learning English is like a long distance running. People who can’t persist will not approach the destination. That is, the process of learning English needs efforts and patience. If we give up halfway instead of insisting on it, we won’t learn English well finally.

    I think learning English is like learning how to ride bikes. At first, you will lose your balance and have great falls. The more painful pains you get, the more balancing skills you will get. At the end, you will conquer it and master it.

    For me, learning English is a difficult process to every non-English native speaker. Just like on a diet and losing weight. I have to make all my effort on it and take my time. Practicing and memorizing are very important to each English learners.

    I consider learning English a game which has many rules like grammar/speaking practicing, vocabulary memorizing. During this game, people have to figure the details of rules out thereby they can play the game successfully. Some people who do not understand how to play this game and lose their confidence little by little. Eventually, they give it up. We also have to insist on playing this game for several years; otherwise, we would not succeed in the end.

    for me, learning english has a lot of fun. for most of my friends, they don’t like english, cause then think that learning english is too difficult. once you get the rule for all the grammer, you will think that it’s really easy to learn. for me, learning english is not for entering a good company, it’s for me to know more friends all over the world. so i prefer learning useful english which i can use in my life, not those things we learn from text book and we learn them only because we have lots of examations. as for me, i like to learn english from life, like movie or music. i love to remeber what the actor and actress say and use them when im talking to my friends. that will make my english more useful.

    for me, learning English just like to learn how to swim, at the beging you have to overcome the fear of water, learning English also have to overcome the fear of speak a foreign language, if you like to speak English and would not be shy or scare, then you will become better English speaker moer easily.

    It is a lot of fun for me to learn English. Becuase there are countless and different kinds of people live in the world and English is an international language which is use by people around the world. Everytime I travel aboard, I wish I could talk with foreigners in English fluently but I couldn’t, so that let me eager to improve my English more. Due to this reason learning English is a happy thing for me.

    I think learning English is just like listen to a song. You have to listen again and again, know what the lyrics want to express. Then, keep practicing you will open your mouth to sing it loudly. English is the same, at first you are not familir with it, but through a long time, you will keep it in mind, then you have to say it loudly.

    Learning English is like climb a huge step. You walk a long way alone. On the way, you may meet others, but they won’t walk with you. They may do something to help you or bring you down. On the way, there are so many funny things, much funny than learning English at least, try to lure you, attract your attention, and let you forget about your purpose. You have to hold on or you will get lost. When you think you hardly walk anymore, you find the upper steps. Suddenly, you find out that your ability are better than before.

    For me, learning English is like cultivate a tree. You have to be patient. You must watering everyday; otherwise, it won’t grow up. Same as learning English, you have to learn it day by day.     For me, learning English is like making friends. If you want to know more about this new friend, you have to talk more to him, you have to contact with him everyday. Learning English is more like this, if you want to learn English well, you have to read English, speak English, listen to English, and write English everyday. Keep contacting with this friend, I believe you will learn a lot from him.

    Learn English just like watch TV program. If you saw a same program, you will be more clear what the person will do or what will happen next time. And you will be very familiar about the dialogue. Just like memorize the vocabulary, the times you see more you will memorize it clearly.

    Learning English is like raising a child.
    A child doesn’t know anything originally, the only thing he can do is accepting what you give to him. If you don’t teach him patiently and lasting. He won’t learn anything,. On the other hand, if you can keep teaching him and encouraging him, he might be a good learner.
    Just like our attitudes to learn English or anything, the elements are to be patient, active and diligent.

    To me, learning English is like marathon. It is a long distance to reach the purpose. If I give up on the half of way, as now I do not learn English positively, I will not speak English well. I learn English for ten years, but I just say poor English. It is a long road to get to the target. I should not stop in the middle. I will progress my English skills. Although, it is hard, I will overcome it, I do.

    Learning English is like cooking. You need to make your steps slower, and try your best to take care of it. If you do so, you may get good conclusion. If you want to succeed very fast, it may not works. Sometimes it would make it worse.
