When it comes to argumentative writing the basic elements of it are reason, emotion, and persona mentioned in our book, which means to base your reason on an emotional appeal in your writing and also make your stand clearly.

The writing topic for you this week is “Should smoking be banned on campus?” If you are a smoker you probably argue for setting up some areas on campus for smokers to relax themselves, while if you’re a non-smoker you will definitely agree with the idea of banning smoking on campus? How about your argument?

    It is a popualr topic that should smoking be banned on campus? This is a real example. A couple live together and husband had a smoking habit. When he smoked, his wife seldom to leave. After few decades, his wife was examed to get lung cancer. She was shocked and wanted know why she got lung cancer.She never smoked. After she asked the doctor and knew that the real reason is second-hand smoke. To compare smoking dirctly, second-hand smoke infulence is more seriously. This example could reflect the campus. If we agree student could smoke on campus,we would easy to inhale the second- hand smoke and harm to our body. Maybe the smoker said that as long as school could limit a space which could smoke and the other place couldn”t. Think about a question, the second-hand would accompany by the air to spread all of the corner. The best way is to ban the smoking on campus. If smoker think they couldn’t fed up with the situation without smoking. I suggest strongly that quit smoking. Don’t harm the other student’s health because of smoker’s selfish and their convenience.

    I totally agree with smoking on campus although I am not a smoker. There are many chances to see people smoked around campus. I consider for most of people, they try to blame smoking on campus are for two reasons. One is they don’t like the smell of cigarette, the other is secondhand smoking is more lethal than simply smoking. Maybe non-smoker will definitely agree with the idea of banning smoking on campus, but smoking is depending on personal freedom. Maybe school could set more smoking areas just for smoker. That is a good way to prevent some people who smell the cigarette or have higher chances to have secondhand smoke.

    It was disgusting when I walked out of the H building. The spirals of smoking from boys and even girls really choked me to death. I had to hold my breathe last I inhale the smoke. It was necessary that smoking should be banned on campus. Smokers might probably disagree with this regulation which seemed to deprive their rights. But how about the rest of the students who were non-smoker? Did students all deserve the damage of health? I probably did not have the right to forbid smokers to smoke but my suggestion was that they should chose the area which was outside campus and far from the entrance of the H building. In doing so, non-smoker students would not inhale second-hand smoke and put their lung in danger.

    I totally agree that smoking should be banned on campus. Recently, there are many posters which are advocate no smoking in the campus. Ironically, there still have some students ignore the poster and smoke in front of the poster. The poster seems to be one of the decorations on the wall. School is a simple learning place, not a casual place that let someone come here to smoke. If someone smokes in school, it could influence the other students who are desire to study and knock the bottom out of learning environment. Worst of all, the second hand smoke would give other students gigantic physical damages. No smoking students come to school don’t need to bear those people who smoke in the campus and accept the fatal smoke.

    I agree with banning smoking on campus. Smoking can make bad effects to people, including hurt lung and throat, and it can lead to people get cancer. There are many smokers in university, so my classmates and I smell the flavor of smoking usually. Our college set up some places for smokers, however, these smoking areas always crowded, it seems like our smoking areas are not enough to smokers of our school. And even thought the school already prepares the smoking areas, some of smokers still don’t follow the rules, and they always like smoking at H building. So I think our school should prepare more smoking areas, besides, we should punish the smokers who smoke outside the smoking areas.

    According our laws, if you are eighteen years old and older, you can smoke. Actually, there are most of college students already eighteen years old. Even then, some of students are smokes on campus. However, no matter students and professors, lots of people all hates smoker. Because they hate smell smoke and afraid smoke would injure their body to affect the health for a long term. In fact, the smoke comprises nicotine, tar and many kinds of bad ingredients. Especially the nicotine and tar, nicotine would cause our brain calls be lacking and decrease our working ability, even then cause for stroke. Otherwise, the tar causes are most of cancers, such as oral cavit cancer, throat cancer and lung cancer. Therefore, I believe the smoking be banned on campus.

    Every one knows that smoking is not only bad for the smokers’ health but also harm for the other people’s health around the smokers who are smoking. Even in the campus where is a place a lot of people gathered, so I strongly agree that smoking should be banned in campus. There are several reasons I think smoking should prohibited in the campus. Firstly, as I mentioned in the beginning, smoking does harm to health. The smokers do not care about other people; we have the right to refuse to be a passive smoker. Secondly, the concoction of cigarette will make air pollution. The smokers is just a part of people living on this plant, they should not destroy our living environments. The last one is the most important one is if smokers like random discard cigarettes, it possible to cause disaster. Because I am a non-smoker, I hope the smokers can give me clean surroundings.

    I agree with the idea of banning smoking on campus because smoking on campus not only affects smokers but also secondhand smokers. We know that smokes contain nicotine and tar which can cause cancers. And the rate of getting cancers on secondhand smokers is higher than smokers. So I want to call on these killers that don’t harm your health and other people’s. Beside, campus is a place for students to learn; in other words, it is a public place and everyone has their own rights to use it. But smokers only think themselves and want to enjoy blowing to a cloud. They don’t care about whether other people can stand the strong smells or not. The most important is it destroys the spirit of campus. So I really agree to ban smoking on campus.

    I think smoking in campus is ok, but school should establish an area or some laws to norm them. People have the right to smoke but they have to remember one thing “You can’t affect others right”, because others people think smoking is bad for their health. So when you are smoking you should avoid letting other people to smoke the second-hand smoke. And here is college, students here are all adults, it means they have the right to do the constitution allowed them. However, school is a special place, people here are learning. Including learns how to be a good citizen, so I think school can establish an area for them to smoke. It will help them to learn “you can do whatever you want under the law allow you”. But the most important thing in this area is, you can not affect others right as I mentioned above.

    I’ am not a smoker. Therefore, my opinion is that I really agree smoking to be banned on campus. The first reason is that if you smoke on campus, you will influent other non-smokers. The smell of smoking is bad for humans’ healthy, such as lung cancer. In case non-smokers inbreathe the smell of smoking, the harmfulness is bigger than smokers. Smokers have to think about this problem and don’t just envisage situations by themselves. The second reason is that if smoker can smoke on campus, some of smoker would throw cigarette butts everywhere. Campus will be very messy. Who the people want to clear campus? Above these reason, I think banning smoking on campus is the right decision.

    I agree that smoking should be banned on campus. There are two reason which I disagree smoking on campus. First, we all know that smoke contains carcinogens which not only harms smokers’ health but also destroys non-smokers’ physical condition. In the past years, more and more second-smokers get cancer. If there were no cigarettes, there would be many healthier people. Also, less money will be spent on treating the illnesses which are caused by smoking. Second, some smokers would throw cigarette butt on the ground. Campus is a public place, and we should keep it clean.

    There is a regulation showed that none smoking in the three-people place. If smoking, they would get charges. However, in many campuses, there are smoking areas to the smokers. It contradicts to the regulation and even some smokers would smoke outside the area. It makes non-smoker feel awful and disgusting. I’m a non-smoker, so I think smoking should be banned in campus. There are two reasons why I think so. First, the rate of getting cancer would be higher of non-smoker than smoker. Why do non-smokers like me need to take challenges to this? Second, just like I say above, some smokers would smoke outside the smoking area and throw the smoking butts everywhere. It is untidy and make the campuses more terrible. Everyone is free, but it should not influence others.

    From a non-smoker’s perspective, I totally agree with the idea of banning smoking on campus. As long as I walked outside the H building, I felt chocked by their heavy smoke. I even can not breathe. People need to realize that smoking is extremely harmful. It harms your lungs, weakens your immune system and causes such serious diseases as lung cancer. Smoking also stains your fingers and yellows your teeth. Therefore, I strongly agree with the idea of banning smoking on campus and support the restrictions on smoking in public areas, because no one should have to breathe second-hand smoke. It is unfair for non-smokers to deal with passive smoking, which does more harm to them than to smokers. As a result, please do not try smoking. Do not let cigarettes ruin your life.

    I am a non-smoker. Definitely I agree with the idea of banning smoking on campus. There are two simple reasons supporting to my opinion.
    The first one is “the health for everyone”. According to the research, the smoker have high rate to get cancer or other diseases. And the secondhand smoke can deeply injure non-smoker. Smoking does harm to the health; therefore, for smoker’s own hearth either other, smoking banning on campus is necessary.
    Beside health, les’s look the cigarette itself. We all know that the price of cigarette was getting higher and higher recently. And the most smokers on campus were the student. This must be a large cost to buy cigarette for student. I heard some student in order to buy the cigarette, saving their money by not to eat lunch or dinner. That’s not a good behavior. However, banning smoking on campus can reduce their smoking desire. If you want to smoke, you have to leaf school far away. Some smokers may think that is really uncomfortable. The student can use the cost of buying cigarette to buy some food to eat.
    I really agree with smoking banning in school. Smoking is just wasting time and also hurting everyone.

    Could you imagine every ten seconds someone lost his or her life because of smoking? According to the World Health Organization (WHO) there is one person per ten seconds die from smoking and compare how long the smokers could live to the non-smokers; the smokers reduce twenty to twenty five years to live than the non-smokers. Smoke also leads to lung cancer that could implicate tons of other diseases.
    As a non-smoker and dislike the smell of the cigarette so much, I definitely agree with banning the smoking on campus because it is not fair to force the non-smokers to smell the secondhand smoke produced by the smokers which is more toxic than the firsthand smoke; besides, banning smoking is good to everybody’s health.

    “Should smoking be banned on campus?” I don’t agree with this sentence. Although I am not a smoker. In our school, most of the students are smokers. I think that everyone can smoke in the specific areas, avoiding to bother other people who don’t smoke. Every student can smoke freely, but they can not interfere otherpeople’s right, even other people’s health. However, I think school should make the regulations more strict absolutely. Set up where the smoking areas certainly. If these students do not follow these rules, they will be punished by the school disciplines.

    Smoking is bad for your health. I think everyone should know that. We college students are about 18 to 22 years old. The organs in our body are still young and fresh. We shouldn’t lay expose under the second hand smoking. Our body has a great future, why should we have to harm our body by smoking at the first place? In my opinion, colleges in Taiwan should follow the law that no smoking in the public area and the public interior area. Smoker should be aware that once you are smoking, you’re harming others as well as yourself.

    In my opinions, I would stand neutrally. I consider that everyone has his own right to decide what he likes to do. I can’t inhibit him or her not doing something or request him to abide the rules. Although smoking is harmless to people, lots of people still smoke, too. Not only in the public, you even can see lots of students smoke on campus. Students that smoke on campus is not a good thing. Not only smells terrible and looks bad. If we want to suggest students not smoke on campus, we should suggest teachers, too. However, it seems like an impossible thing. But one way we can do is to set up some areas on campus for smokers to relax themselves. For smokers good, also for us good.
