The Way to Writing

One of the most difficult areas when it comes to learning a new language is to compose something in that language. Many of us as second language learners of English have been seeking best ways and strategies to improve our English skill. As this course indicates, probably you are thinking about how I’m going to improve my writing skills by taking this writing course and what strategy(ies) I will be learning to enhance my writing abilities. Of course, we’re going to learn some writing techniques which definitely will sharpen your skills in writing. However, what I’d like to discuss here is your discipline over writing?

What do I mean “discipline over writing”? Whatever good strategies a person possesses could come to nothing if he/she doesn’t put them into practice. The way to improving your English writing is through reading and practice, so I challenge you today to make a daily schedule of your reading and writing activities that are feasible to you. Until the end of this term you’ll make a great progress without a doubt.

Thus, regarding this week’s writing assignment share with the rest of us how you will work on your English writing skills (or how you’re going to improve your writing).

    In my opinion the best way to improve my writing is read more and practice more. Although I have been learned English for about eleven years my writing still very awful. I tried a lot of ways to impove my writing but in vain.
    One day I met professor Huang and ask for heip. She gave me sincerely advices which is read more and practice more. This method is very useful to me. Since that day I put into practice what professor told me.
    I think as long as I keep working I will make progress in my writing. Memorizing vocabulary is also important.

    I agree with you suggest!
    But I have a problem that no matter how many articles I writed, I still don’t know what mistakes I made!
    Therefore, I still made the same mistakes!
    It’s any useful practice for me?

    After I saw this article, I had a quesition. I read some books, I also can remember the phrases. When I write the article, I don’t know how to use the phrases.

    We discussed this subject in the class and my answers are:
    1. Writing in English may inspire us to think in different way.
    2. Recording our feelings, memories and thinkings.
    3. Without a doubt, we are English major. It’s the basic ability to write a paper or a document in English.

    I like to read magazines which is about culture, food and travel. Though I do not know how those articles wiil improve my writing skills, I just read what I am interested in. Often, I will note the words that the author chooses in order to make his article vivid. The next time, I will put it in my articles to experience the impact on the reader. But the most important is the organization. By reading articles, I will observe how the author organize his article.

    I guess most of don’t have the habit as you mention in the artical. Somehow the common question is that I read, I write, but Istill don’t know what is wrong with my writning. Is it the grammar? the structure? or the organization? We still need to figure out that.

    just like we discussed in class, i think writing diaries is a good way to imperove skill. however, we don;t have that much time. read more and practice more is also a good way.

    Writing is important. Although you have enough vocabulary, it is not useful if you do not know how to use them compose an article. This is also the problem I have. I know practice is important; however, it takes time. I admit that I am lazy to spend my time. So, all I have to do is keeping patience and spending much time on English.

    Writing is always the most important part in learning English in my points of view, sometimes we can’t talk fluently about what we want to express or some people can’t understand what we say. We can use the writing instead of speaking. Writing has to be used in any time, sometimes we try to record our daily life, do homework, or write a letter. In the school, we still have many opportunities to practice writing. Writing always depended on many ways, for example, you have to remember enough words amount, correct grammar use and don’t be far away with your title. The best way to sharp our writing ability is try to read many articles and gain our grammar ability. Although idea is very important, we still have to gain basic ability in each day.

    Since I am a junior high school student, the teacher taught us how to write an essay in English. From then on, I write and write. But in my opinion, a good way to improve English writing is read as more as you can. By doing this, we can imitate the wirter’s merit of writing skill and catch it to become our own ability. The ways of imprving English are many, everyone can make it as long as you have persistence.

    I think that more reading and more writing practice are the best ways to improve our writing skills.By reading, we can learn more vocabularies and we can remenber more the unfamiliar words. By writing, we can promote our techniques of writing. And, we can also to ask teachers how can we be a good writer.

    It is my opinion that a way to improve writing skill is to read more articles. Also, developing a habit of writing journal is another way. Even though I do these ways, I don’t know what wrong with my writing.

    Writing can share my feeling with others, but the grammar and construction of the article make me confused when I writing articles in English. I know read more and practice can improve my writing skill. But I just forget the principles of writing sometimes. Because every different construction has their own different principles.

    I’m also agree that keep on writing daily is a good way to improve my English writing ability. I really know that, but never do it continued. When I skip one day, I would be lazy and think that I wil add them totally. However, the diaries are usually accumulate more and more so that I decide to give up. I hope this time I can try my best to do this job.

    I think if want to improve my writing ability , reading is also important. The progress of writing is based on reading well, we can find spme skills of writing from some articals, and after reading for a long time, we’ll find ore writting ability is better step by step.
    However, It’s not only this way can improve writting ability, “discipline over writing”also can from the way of usually writting English compositions.

    First step for learning writing is making clear the outline and structure of an essay. It’s sure that a lot of vocabularies and phrases in our brain is necessary basis of an essay. What’s more, making the habit of writing something in mind on a regular basis is the key element for progress. So I try now to allocate some time to write something about my daily life as I did in high school. Second, reading a variety of materials to broaden acknowledge and common sense. Jot down some great idioms and make them mine. I hope I can see obvious progress in this semester only do I practice writing as many as teachers do.
