Narrative Paragraphs – The First Time at Shih Chien

The final writing genre we’ll be focusing on is narrative writing. When you write a narrative paragraph, you actually tell a story. Narrative paragraphs have a beginning, a middle, and an end. Any time you go to a movie or read a fiction book, you are looking at a narrative. Narrative paragraphs often describe events from the writer’s life.

This week your response journal will start with “I will never forget the first time I … at Shih Chien University…” In this narrative writing, you will tell a story, have a beginning, a middle, and an end. Note that you keep your paragraph entertaining and informative.

    I will never forget the first time I saw Shih Chien University 2 years ago. Seeing the the front gate of the campus, which faces to the building H, it made me believe that the building must have been an big mixed Oriental tea shops or the kind. It gave me a very different feeling to that of in another areas in Taipei. Dazhi itself was seemingly very calme and cosy. A year after, for a more comfortable living environment; I moved to Dazhi. Several monthes after my campus life started,too. Actually I did not consider seriously to decide which University I whould better go. How I chose the University was very simple; I just followed my first impression of the friendly entrance. It is bizarre to recall my very first time of Shih Chien University, because I never thought that I would study at ‘Oriental tea shop’ in those time.

    I will never forget the first time I saw a celebrity, Yun-Ling Huang at the hallway to the music hall at Shih Chien university. She is one of my favorite musicians because of her skills of playing the piano and knowledge of classical music. At that time, no sooner had I seen her, than I felt what she looks in the real life is a little different from what she looks on TV. Then, to my surprise, she smiled when she looked at me. It was really an amazing thing for me since I never think that I could have a chance to come across someone I admire. Since I was a junior high student, I have envied her talent for the piano. Even though in the end I forgot to say hello to her and requested her to sign her name on paper in a wink, I felt I was lucky enough to see my idol face to face. That was my unforgettable memory and the first short story at Shih Chien.

    I will never forget the first time I lived in the dorm at Shih Chien University. This was also my first time to share the room with other people. Because I was the first person who entered the room, I expected how was my roommates. After a day, a roommate moved into the room. She comes from Tainan and she is very firendly person who studies about cooking. Then when we were fimiliar with other roommated, we would chatting about classes. Owing to six people in a room, I learned how to get alone with other people in the room. Besides, I learned how to communicate with the seniors and cleaned up the room together. Now this semester becomes over, but my roommates and I will be friend forever.

    I will never forget the first time I saw Shih Chien University. Before I start my first system, I have been here once with my friend who is also enter a university in Taipei. When I got into the entrance that time, I told to myself “what a beautiful place!” Then, I walked to the building A and the bathrooms. There are many exhibitions be held and the bethrooms are so clear that I have great impression on Shih Chien. Walking alone the gallery, I enter the building L which is like the Eslite because of the tinges of it. After I visit the first floor of the building L, I turned to the fifth floor to look around the AFL apartment. It looks neat and clear and I thought it is a good place to study. I have very great impression on Shih Chien University after I finished the tour of it and I will never forget the first time.

    I will never forget the first time I arrive at the dorm of the school at Shih Chien. At the first day I move to the dorm. My parents help me bring a lot of thing I need in the school from my hometown. When we arrive at the dorm, I was surprised that the room and the hallway are so narrow. And my mother helped me clean up the room where cover much dust everywhere after two month nobody staying here. I think in my mind and feel a little upset ‘Is the place should I stay in the future?’ But after we clean up the room, I feel much satisfy with the room. Besides, the room has air-conditioner, very comfortable and the saloon is very big. Now, I can get with here and I wish I can stay at the dorm the next three years.

    I will never forget the first time I joined in the drum team at Shih Chien University. At first sight, because Applied Foreign Language is belong to the manage department, we can see the show of drum team in the musical hall at the freshman ceremony. I was fascinated to it and hoped I can join in it one day. Then, back to my dorm, I saw a girl who is one of the teammates in drum team lived in my room. I was excited and asked whether I can join in it. The answer is definitely yes. As my first time entered the basement of practicing, I began my drum life at the Shih Chien University. Now, we are great performers in playing drum.

    I will never forget the first time I go the dancing class in Shih Chien. I almost can’t dance and I think there’s no talent for me to dance. At that time, I was really afraid to attend dancing class. The steps are so complicated and difficult, I can’t remember still less dancing well. But after a few days, I am familiar with those steps gradually. I found out that dancing could be interesting. After that, I was not afraid of dancing class anymore. And this experience becomes part of my unforgotten memories in my life.

    Tasha is my good and close friend in my teen-age. We studied at the same junior high school and senior high school. She is an energetic girl of medium stature with dark hair,olive skin tone. Her high forehead with a pair bright almond-shaped eyes are the most stand out marks of her. She is confident and efficient whenever she is. She dresses very casual. The best look is her bohemia style which is match her character the most. She is a strong-outside but gentle-inside person. Every time I have problems that she can always give me different opinions and good advices. I learned lots of things from her. She is not only a good friend of me, but a mirror, a teacher of me.I grow up in a beautiful place where people call it wai shuang xi. Located at the the north suburbs of Taipei city. wai shuang xi has an area of about 4 square kilometers and a population of almost 6,000 people. Surrounding by foothills and shuang xi river through out from mountains. Evey summer vacation, people from cities keep coming in streams to barbecue on the riverside or to dabble in the river. The climate here is cooler than near urban area and the air is more fresh. wai shuang xi is also well known for its most famous spot-National Palace Museum. The precious Chinese cultural legacy is right here. People from all of the world come here for just one look at our amazing treasures. There are many old condos and old houses along the main way, Jhihshan Road, the only way communicate to town. Some famous people lived here. I saw the Former Minister of Finance Wang, Chien-Hsuan jogs many times. There are also the Former president Lee Teng-hui and the well-known ｍusic artist-Yuan, Wei Jen lived in the same community. My hometown is a scenic place where is pleasant either for living and visiting.The typical day in my life is very uptight as long as I go to the college. Usually, I get up at seven o’clock. It is extraordinary important to set my alarm on “snooze mode” since I have to go to the first two classes before I get to work. Totally waking up is from alarm’ s ringing and ringing about half an hour later. Next I jump out of my warm bed and have a cold cleaning up to freshen myself. After a quickly dressing up, I seize my heavy bag then leave for work. About ten minutes deadly racing by my scooter and a temporary blank on my mind finally I arrive my office just on time. As a usual, I drink each a bottle of yoghourt and ice-coffee that I brought from home for breakfast also lunch. There is no lunch break of my work from eleven a.m. to five-thirty p.m.. I generally come off duty at five-forty p.m.. Afterward I drive my scooter through the foul air by traffic jam on rush hour to go to the school for the night class and buy my dinner while is already six-ten p.m.. Following hours I concentrate on instructor’s resonant voice in classes until nine-fifty p.m.. No matter how soon I leave school for home, It is at least ten-thirty p.m.. However I always try to finish the homework and watch a little bit of news for a break. At the end of a exhausted day I sleep like dead almost two o’clock a.m.. Being work my way through school therefore my daily life is really restless.Shih Chien University is a good choice for many students from few fronts. The campus is surrounding by scenic hills. There is no din from traffic outside the windows bothered during classes. Also, the school building is its distinguishing characteristic. You can see famous Japan architect TADAO ANDO style concrete structures in Shih Chien. There were many music videos and commercials shooting here. Convenient communication of Shih Chien is another good reason for choose. Students can get to school from at least three ways, Bei-An Road, Da-Zhi Bridge and Tze Chiang Tunnel by bus. The best part of Shih Chien is the education of design. College of Design of Shih Chien University was rated the No. one in Taiwan by thirty four professionals in “Global View” issued in January 2007. Classes and tutors here are very helpful to establish your creativity and individual thinking. Shih Chien University is not only advantaged in those aspects above but also a nice choice for most of students.Yi Ruei, my favorite friend of C2 fans club. He is one of the most popular person in the club I ever met. Many of his good qualities that make everybody love to hang out with him.
    One of his good qualities is his good sense of humor. He has a power to turn anything into funny way. For example, once we went cycling and he were teased by us about his voice like a girl. As then we were taking a photo for him. He made a very sissified pose which was more jesting than we do. He can always make a fun time. His another good quality is his positive thinking. He is always look on the bight sight and never give up to deal with any problem. On one occasion, he lost his wallet with five thousand dollars. But he didn’t grumble at all, he say, “At least I didn’t lose my hair” to make fun of himself instead. One another is his bounty. He never was a kind of stingy person who haggles over every penny. For instance, we had a meal together very often. Most of time any of us without small bill when paying the check, he was the one pay all checks first. We gave him changed money after leaving for sure and never took advantage on him of course. Unless a treat was said from the beginning. He also lend friends money with no complains and looking down on them if he knew you were in a real trouble. My favorite friend of C2 fans club Yi Ruei whose humor,his positive thinking and his bounty make everybody love to hang out with him and became the most popular person I ever met.How to prepare a swimming? You probably say to yourself that you do not have to prepare for a swimming, that you just jump into the pool and begin to swim. But if you ask some professional swimmer, they will tell you that you have to warm up and stretch all your muscles otherwise you may get a tear or cramp even drown yourself. It is good to start warming up before the swimming. There are three major steps involved in how to warming up. First of all, you should start with a slow jogging; the length depends on the water temperature where you swim. For example, swimmer who swims in the winter will jog at least 20 minutes to warm up. Secondly, you have to stretch your muscles with different exercise. For example, a good exercise to stretch is to stand facing the wall; push against it with both hands. Straighten out one leg behind you and push. Then do the same with the other leg. After that, the third step to warming up is to swim a few warm-up laps, use the kick board or pull buoy to get yourself going. Warming up is very important. It prevents muscle tears and tendon injuries.According to many researches, smoking is considered harmful. Not only does Smoking be bad for our hearts, lungs and skin but it also causes cancer. Few months ago, I heard that one of my classmates was told by his Dr that he had a cancer. It could be me if I keep smoking. Therefore I determined to quit smoking again from now on. At first, for cutting a bad habit I set a easier goal to achieve at. So that I will not fail at beginning this time and build confidence from the start. For example, I restrict myself to smoke half a equivalence, half a pack of cigarettes, from now I do. After the first goal is completed, my second step is find another thing instead.Just like eating the Nicorette Stop Smoking Gum instead of smoking. Until I can totally stop smoking, the final step, also the most important step, is avoiding smoking again. For instance, not only do throw all lighters and ashtrays away but choose also the no smoking area while I am in public spaces like restaurants. Thus It helps to prevent a desire of smoking comes out in my mind. I have a great confidence that after all steps I will have taken, I will quit smoking successfully in the nearly future.Marriage is a beginning to have your own family. People should get married when they are both mentally and physically mature enough as a good beginning. There are three major reasons for this. People who like the eleven-year old boy in the story is not mature enough can’t be responsible for themselves even their spouse. Marriage is not a roll-play game. It is a promise for responsibility and duty. Secondly, adults could make wrong choices even people who are immature. Who won’t be able to make right decisions for their future of life after married. Childish decisions like having a baby without needed readiness could lead to unpredictable tragedies and more society costs. The most essential reason, in my point of view, is that people who are not mature enough shouldn’t get married because they couldn’t earn their living by themselves so they have not strong enough economic foundation to support expenses of their family. Such as child’s education budget and any necessary costs for raising children. Their parents will die one day sooner or later, so young couples can’t rely on their parents forever. Being ready and being strong enough before get married have greater chances to have a happy ending rather another wrong beginning.In my point of view “…do what you feel good” is a really good idea to most of people. Only follow your instincts that you would know what you really want. For a instance, there are so many psychometries that base on this order as long as tester follow their instincts the result will be more accurate. Another reason is that people can focus on the thing they love much more and much longer. It helps people more persistent on it. If you persist in your efforts, you’ll succeed in the end. Just like our father Sun Yat-sen who succeed in the end as long as he persists in his efforts on the revolutions. More important, doing what you feel good often gives you more courage to overcome any difficulties. For example, a kid can play a video game over and over till he finally pass the level no matter how many times he fail. You can tell how much more it affect our attitude to deal with frustrations. In conclusion, to do what you fell good, so, then you will love what you do. It is really a good advice to everyone.

    I am against banning of the death penalty. First reason is that the death penalty extinguishes the possibility of rehabilitation and redemption of the perpetrator. They have no second chance to repent and start anew. There is a example, the student of National Tsing Hua University, Hung Hsiao-huei who murdered her classmate and mutilated the body in a case involving a love triangle 10 years ago. She served at the Kaohsiung Women’s Prison. She has a record of good behavior and even teaches fellow inmates English and other subjects. Her case demonstrates that not all criminal are impenitent and criminal can still do the right things. Furthermore, the death penalty creates secondary victims, specifically the family and friends of the executed.Third,the death penalty maybe just is an institutional refusing pardon and also an idea about revenge. And it can’t solve the really problems at enough. And what if the wrongful convictions executions of innocent people?the death penalty could cause irreparable mistakes. Since the reasons above, I am againt banning of the death penalty.I will never forget the first time I walked into Shih Chien University when I become one of Shih Chien’s student. Then I took my steps toward the building A, and there is a four-floor high atrium in the middle of the building. The place I stand has many interesting hanging artworks made by students. The room at my left was the office. After I step forward and take a closer look of the wall. The material of the wall is so simple and impressing. There is no ceramic tiles and totally slick-surface cement that is the most known feature of Shih Chien’s architecture. Even that’s only a small part of Shih Chien. I was impressed by the school already.

I saw a gorgeous violat blue light wall radiated graceful light on my right side. Then I took my steps toward the building A, and there is a four-floor high atrium in the middle of the building. The place I stand has many interesting hanging artworks made by students. The room at my left was the office. After I step forward and take a closer look of the wall. The material of the wall is so simple and impressing. There is no ceramic tiles and totally slick-surface cement that is the most known feature of Shih Chien’s architecture. Even that’s only a small part of Shih Chien. I was impressed by the school already.

    I will never forget the first time I slip at. It was on Friday, there was a test in the first class. I was nervous and want to get the best score. So, I prepared it on Thursday night. I staid up late and read it clearly. Then, I really got a good score in that test. After I finished it, I felt relaxed and I suddenly want to sleep. After the class, I back to my dormitory. Actually, I can’t experience the disorientation. I went up the stair slowly. Suddenly, I slipped on the stair, and then I totally sobered up. I heard someone laughed at the same time. What a embarrassing experience that I will never forget.
