My Life Goal

This week you’ll be writing a process paragraph about a goal (e.g., 5 or 10 years from now) and describe the steps you will use to achieve it. Be specific and workable/doable.l Below is an example of Ana who had a plan on getting a driver’s license in order to be independent as she studied in the U.S.

My “Feet” in America

When I arrived in the USA, I noticed cars are like feet because they get you everywhere you need to go. But I don’t know how to drive. My specific goal is to get a driver’s license so that I can be independent. I want to learn how to do it although I don’t have a car. My first step is to make money and to buy a car by November 2008. Then in December 2008 I will study for the written test and go to the DMV (Department of Motors Vehicles) to get my learner’s permit. Then, in January 2009, I will take a class and I will begin to learn driver’s license by the end of February 2009. After that I will become an independent woman, so I can go wherever I want without a wait or brothering someone. In conclusion, in American I have to drive. Driving is a tool, like our feet in this huge country.

    My only goal, in present, is to be a interior designer. I am interested at interior design. It really attracts me. First, I will read magazines and books of interior design. Therefore, I can have a basic idea about it and I can look for my own design style. I also can learn some special design among masters. Secondary, I am going to take a basic class of interior design in July and August on 2009. I want to do it on the computer because I am not very good at painting. It’s necessary to use the computer in the future in its area. In 2015, I will go aboard to Japan to learn more things about interior design because I really love the style of interior design there. I think they are the best. Finally, after few years, I can be a real interior designer to fulfill my life special goal.

    My dream is to be a secretary in foreign companies or overseas, so I have some plans when I study in the college for these four years. At the beginning, I should learn each subject to take seriously to get good scores. Because I want to minor in department of international trade, the grade in average needs to above 75. Next, choosing the commerical group, I want to combine with my minor. In our department, there are many courses held in department of international trade, that is, we will learn with their students. Besides, my second language will learn Spanish due to the trade market. It occupies more and more market in middle and south America and most of them speack Spanish. Besides, I am going to learn more other abilities or travel abroad in every summer vacation. I’ll take a car license and learn computer program like flash, illustrate,and photoshop…,and so on in this summer. In the end, I will do my best to get a practice job in my last grade. Practice what I learned more and read the extracurricular books to promote myself, and I can attend my goal. I have already finished the first plan at present and I have been studying hard continually.

    I want to take a trip around all over the world with my painting tools and pens. To open my eyes, traveling is the best way and further more, I want to draw and write all what I have seen to keep memories and remember the achivement. My first step is learning languages well and more such as Japanese, French or Korean in few years. Languages are play important roles in communicating, so I should do it. About September 2008, I will choose Japanese to be my second language, later on, maybe I’ll choose another one on 2010. Secondary, I shall get a driver’s license, If I have a license , I can travel many places successfully. So I’m going to learn how to drive a car and pass the exam on next summer vacation. Third, strengthening my painting skill is also a important point for me. I wish I can draw much and fast in a short time, so I have to do much practice. Actually, I’m doing now. I usually paint anything in my free time or sometimes in classes. Finally, I hope I can prepare all things and start the tour in six years. Then I will have a pleasant recollection in the fiture.

    I want to be a rich man. It’s not just common rich, but is a good deal rich that I have enough money to buy an island. I think up two ways to let me be a rich man. Fist, I need to be a successful businessman. I believe be a successful businessman has following quality, smart, crafty and have good relationship with others. So, I need to study harder especially about business major and learn how to get good relationship with others, no matter acquaintances or strangers. Second, it’s a very dangerous way. To be a bank robber. If I rob a bank, I can get a lot of money overnight. So, I need a very careful and detailed plan and some dependable companion. Then, we need all straight information about the bank and some useful weapons. If our plan come off, we all will be rich. My goal is to be a very rich man at present.

    My life goal is want to be a flight attendant in the future. Because I can take travel around the world, but I still can earn money to support my life. For achieving my goal, I have many steps to do. My first step is I must grow tall at least to 160 centimeters, because it is the basic standard for a flight attendant. And the second step is I need to prove my English better before I graduated from university. Due to I want to work immediately after I graduate. And the English is an international language and I needing it to communicate with foreigners or passengers. Next, I will choose other languages to be my second language in my second grades. Such as Japanese, French or Spanish and so on. Because it is a benefit for me to compete with other competitors. Then I will go to cram school to learn knowledge and information about the attendant exam during my free time. And the last step is delivering my curriculum vitae to every airline companies when I graduate from university. Then if I really go the job, my life goal comes true.

    Traveling Japan alone is my life goal because I want to improve that I can do something without my parents’ assistance. To achieve this destination, there are some things that I should prepare. First, I should have enough money to disburse my whole journey. So, I always do my best to find a better part time job to earn more money. For traveling alone, I have to check everything by myself such as air ticket, hotel, and automobile. That is why I always keep earning money. Second, I will learn Japanese in cream school, especially communication. Third, I will know more about Japan. For example, Surfing on the Internet to search the information of Japan, or read travel magazine, and then planning my journey. I really hope my destination can be achieved as soon as possible.

    I would like to go to America as an exchange student for my life goal in recent years. The reason is that I yearn for the college life of America when I was a junior high school student. By the way, I would like to experience the exotic and all English environment, too. To achieve this goal, I must to complete some standards of my school. My first step is to do well on my school work in these three years. I have to get high scores in every semester. Second, I must to improve my English ability by myself from now on especially in speaking and listening which are my weakness. Next, I must get certificates of IELT which score I must reach is above 6.5, TOEFL which score I must get is above 232 or 575, or TOEIC which score I must get is above 580.Then I would find a part time job to save money when I study in Taiwan next semester, because the tuition is not cheap in the U.S. The last and the most important is that I have to apply the school which I want to attend. If I pass these standards in recent years, I would stay in America in the future and reach my short range goal.

    I want to see the home game of LA Lakers, so I need some money to support me to do that. At first, I will work for my father’s company where I can get good pay in the summer vacation. Also, I will find a part-time job in a cram school. Until to the end of the summer vacation, I will have enough money. Second, I will check some information about LA, such as transportation, weather, and accommodation. After I have enough information and money, I will book the plane ticket. Finally, I will go to LA in the next winter vacation and enjoy my trip!

    One of my life goals is to go Europe with my family. Because my mother says she loves the scenery in Europe. My first step is to graduate from the university successfully in 2011. After that, I will smoothly enter a graduate school. When I graduate from a graduate school by June 2013, I could get a good job at once and start to plan the trip. Later, I must increase my salary during two years. Then before the end in 2017, I will have enough money to support a trip with my family to Europe. At least in 2018 I have to accomplish the trip and enjoy it with my family.

    It’s my life goal that I want to study abroad in the future. I think it can improve my English ability of speaking very much. Even I can be independent of unfamiliar surroundings. First of all, I have to enhance my basis knowledge. Such as grammar. Second, I hope I can get the certification of TOEFL or TOEIC. I think the certifications can prove my ability and let me have more confidence. Third, I am able to talk with other people in English or practice with foreign teacher. It will train my reaction and understanding ability. In addition, reading some original books or listening to some English programs is a good way to better my ability. I really hope I will achieve my goal as soon as possible.

    According to many researches, smoking is considered harmful. Not only does Smoking be bad for our hearts, lungs and skin but it also causes cancer. Few months ago, I heard that one of my classmates was told by his Dr that he had a cancer. It could be me if I keep smoking. Therefore I determined to quit smoking again from now on. At first, for cutting a bad habit I set a easier goal to achieve at. So that I will not fail at beginning this time and build confidence from the start. For example, I restrict myself to smoke half a equivalence, half a pack of cigarettes, from now I do. After the first goal is completed, my second step is find another thing instead.Just like eating the Nicorette Stop Smoking Gum instead of smoking. Until I can totally stop smoking, the final step, also the most important step, is avoiding smoking again. For instance, not only do throw all lighters and ashtrays away but choose also the no smoking area while I am in public spaces like restaurants. Thus It helps to prevent a desire of smoking comes out in my mind. I have a great confidence that after all steps I will have taken, I will quit smoking successfully in the nearly future.

    It is hard to decide what to set as my life goal. But at least what I want to have is a family. Since my parents understood and trusted me and my brother, we have been leaving home for a long time. Then I realised one thing that I may never go back home to live with them. It happened suddenly on our family, but we did not do it intentionally. Though they do not say anything to me, I know they love me and are worried. So, to make them feel calmer, I think I should better get married as soon as possible; hopefully I can make it in 2 years. After graduating University, I would like to have a job proposed by some Japanese campanies. I guess I will have a job in Taiwan 2 to 3 years, then I would like to move to Japan. Then when I and my husband-to-be settled down there, next we will finally have a baby. To live with own family is such a great thing; I truely hope that I also can make as happy a family as my parents have given to me.

    My life goal is to be a good wife and a good mother. I want to get married with my boyfriend. He promises me that he will marry me if we have some money after ten years. First, after we graduate from our universities, we are about twenty two years old; we go to work for seven or eight years to save money. I want to teach children at a kindergarten or a cram school. I can make money by using what I learn from the university, have chance to get close to children, and also learn how to teach them in case I will have babies in the future. Second, at this time, I want to go to cooking school to learn how to cook well. As the old saying goes “the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach”. Third, when we save enough money, we are about thirty years old; we will get married. After we get married, we will look for a house where we can live with our parents forever and I want to continue my job. I hope I can have a baby during three years. I can realize my life goal before I am thirty five years old.

    To support my family is my life goal. Because my parents bring me up since I was born. My father work to support our family. My mother takes the burden of taking of me and my brother. Therefore, I have to study hard. Step by step, I need to improve my English. Then I hope I can become an English teacher after I graduate from the college. After I am capable of making money, I could save money. When I have enough money, I can buy a house for my family. Then we will live a happy life. No matter how long the time passed, I still will support my family. It’s my life goal that I really want to achieve.

    My life goal is to be a good rich man and collect much money as I can.Bottom on this,I want to take my father’s business and explore it I think it’s a easy job to make money .First ,I have to master two languages one is English another is japanese.English, because it can ues in many country.Japanese because it is a country which love to eat eel.In order to make this goal, so I have to master them so that I can help myself to explore my father’s business and make much money.I hope I can make it and I think I can make my life goal before I am thirty years old.
