Welcome to this course on Classical Mythology (希臘羅馬神話 ). This week I just started by defining some terms: “classical” and “mythology.” We know myths by definition, one way or another, are traditional stories or tales. More specifically, they are stories a society tells itself that “exhibit or represent the worldview, beliefs, principles, and often the fears of that society.” (Elizabeth Vandiver) Is there any traditional story whether a myth, a legend or a folktale that has touched you deeply? What is the story all about? What have you learned about that story? How have you been changed by that story?
