He Is My Need

I need Jesus, my need I now confess;
No friend like Him in times of deep distress;
I need Jesus, the need I gladly own;
Tho’ some may bear their load alone,
Yet I need Jesus.
Chorus
I need Jesus, I need Jesus,
I need Jesus ev’ry day;
Need Him in the sunshine hour,
need Him when the storm-clouds low’r;
Ev’ry day along my way, Yes, I need Jesus.

Everyone has his own needs and desires to be satisfied. A baby will keep crying if he isn’t fed or his diaper isn’t changed. A student will complain if his interests are not met in his school education. Parents will scorn their children if the children do not live up to their expectations. The people will take to the streets to protest against the government if it doesn’t meet their needs and expectations.

We are always looking for something to satisfy our desires, yet we are rarely satisfied indeed. As Jesus talked to a Samaritan woman who came to the well to draw water, he said, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I will never thirst” (John 4:13-14). The woman replied, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming to draw water. We are aware that Jesus was not speaking about “physical water”, but “spiritual water” which is “a spring of water welling up to eternal” (v. 14). The woman later believed in Jesus and shared what Jesus had done to her with the people in the village.

We will become hungry again and again even we have delicious food or hearty meals. But if we have Jesus, he definitely satisfy our inmost desires and needs. He is our need.
