Toward the end of the week my mailbox is often stuffed with various kinds of advertising circulars ranging from neighboring big supermarkets to local food stands. They are marketing their products. What they usually do is offer promotional products or coupons on certain items and groceries. My family therefore use these circulars to save money on our weekly shopping.
Likewise, schools utilize the same strategy to attract more students to study on their campuses. They boast about their strong, excellent faculty, high enrollment rates or employment rates among their graduates, and the high-quality learning environment.
We are extremely anxious about promoting ourselves to be known and recognized. Therefore, we boast about our strengths and achievements. The apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 11:30 said, “If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness.” How could a person boast of his weaknesses or faults? Could he not feel embarrassed or humiliated? Paul explained later, “Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me” (12:9). He took great delight in his weakness, because he could receive the power of God and used for His purpose.
Are you ashamed of your weaknesses? Place these weaknesses into His hands and He will turn them into His glory.
