At the end of the story In a Church, the woman replied to the author, “So do I. It makes me feel like I know religion.” Both of them are “outsiders” of the church, but whenever needed they would visit a church and sit in religious observance, enjoying “choral music” as well as “the sound of the Holy Word,” which perhaps make them more spiritual.
