His Timely Provision

David was chosen by God to be king of Israel when he was a shepherd boy and then he served as a harpist soothing King Saul’s soul and casting out the disturbing spirit from him. Later David was hunted down by Saul because he was held in highest honor among the people of Israel. “Saul kills by the thousand, and David by the ten thousand” (1 Samuel 29:5) after David killed Goliath the Philistine and the women of Israel welcomed him with these words. So David was banished from the presence of David hiding in different places.

God didn’t forget his new king of Israel. He brought might warriors to David as he was at the wilderness fortress. Those brave fighting men deflected to David and committed themselves to him. “All these soldiers came to David at Hebron, ready to fight if necessary; they were  both united and determined to make David king over all Israel. And everyone else in Israel was of the same mind–‘Make David king’ (1 Chronicles 12:38)!” David didn’t recruit men and women to join his troops. He could have done that because he had known he would become king of Israel. But he waited patiently for God’s timing and knew the Lord would provide for his needs.

Being the children of God we are so blessed by His heavenly riches and abundances. We have the blessed assurance that we are “a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God.” Live to be a child of Mighty God even if you are being under the grueling condition like David. God is working out everything to your advantage even you can’t see with your own eyes. As one of the spiritual leaders said, “If we keep trusting God, He will keep working in us as well as for us.”
