For some time I had a hard time getting back to sleep after returning home from evening classes. The lecture contents or learning activities often occupied all my mind so that I couldn’t easily lay to rest mentally and emotionally. My mind kept rehearsing what had been done in class.
When the shepherd came to the town where Joseph and Mary lived in the book of Luke, they told everyone what had happened and what the angel had to them about the coming of Savior. All who heard the shepherds’ story were astounded, but “Mary quietly treasured these things in her heard and thought about them often.” Mary, mother of Jesus, was surprised and joyful too. Yet, she “quietly” placed these things in her heart and meditated on them frequently. She remained in God’s promise securely and quietly.
In God can we put our trust and lay down our rest, Exciting or disheartening happenings only distract us from focusing on Him.
