Sometimes I like to follow Pope’s remarks on various issues whether they are political, social or moral. The news media reported yesterday that the Vatican defended the pope’s view of sexual education as he emphasized the key to eradicating Africa’s AIDS epidemic is not through condoms but by means of  “abstinence and monogamy”. His comments unsurprisingly angered many European countries which called his remarks “irresponsible and dangerous”.

When God dictated the Ten Commandment to his people, the law was given to protect them and to show his love to his people. “You shall not commit adultery” is the one law to display God’s unfailing love and faithfulness to his chosen people and his people to Him. So shall it be faithfulness between husband and wife as God has united them together. It is symbolic of God’s loving relationship with his people.

God is neither conservative nor selfish. What he has done for us is to demonstrate his love and put a hedge of protection around us.
