Did you ever feel wronged? Have you ever felt falsely accused? Would you fight back against accusations immoderately or remain calm and silent without talking back to your accusers? Moses is the person we may learn from about handling complaint and accusations. It happened many times that Moses was accused of his leadership out of envy and jealousy by his companions and even his family. One time, some rebels came up against Moses saying, “You have gone too far! The whole community of Israel has been set apart by the Lord, and he is with all of us. What right do you have to act as though are greater than the rest of the Lord’s people” (Numbers 16:4), On hearing this, Moses fell face down on the ground, telling them that God would show them who would belong to him. Another time Moses brother and sister talked against behind his back, “Is it only through Moses that the Lord speaks? Doesn’t he also speak through us” (12:2)? God acted on behalf of Moses and rebuked them and even punished Miriam his sister.
When charges are thrown at us, it is the best time for us to “throw our face down on the ground before God”, ” Are we wrongly or rightly accused?” If God stands with us, he will vindicate us with his power and righteousness. As Paul in Romans 12:19 said, “Dear friend, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God.”
