Waiting For God’s Timing

What would you do if you’re in great danger and your companions were leaving you alone and the person who had promised to help didn’t arrived yet? This is what happened to Saul the king of Israel. The scenario is this that Saul and his army were prepared to fight against his enemy that consists of “three companies of chariots six companies of cavalry, and so many infantry they looked like sand on the seashore” (Samuel 13:5). Samuel the prophet instructed Saul to wait seven days for his arrival. On the seventh day Saul’s soldiers were slipping away because of fear and Samuel still didn’t show up. Saul therefore decided to seek help from God by sacrificing the burnt offering and the peace offering which were only allowed by the priest to do. The moment Saul completed the offerings, Samuel arrived and rebuked his disobedience and foolishness. Later Saul’s kingdom fell to David’s hand.

I assume that most of us would do the same thing sacrificing our own offerings to God if we were Saul. What God desires us to do is not the offering we present, but the obedient heart we offer. Is God sleeping or deaf when we encounter troubles orgreat danger? Is He ready to rescue us from the hands of our enemy? God’s timing is always perfect as long as we give up our own timetable and let hm schedule our plan.

God is able and is going to deliver us if we surrender to his power.
