Asking For Jesus

Obamamania has still been in full swing around the globe since Barack Obama became the first African American U.S. president. his charisma and eloquence really put him on top of many politicians. Today on one occasion one of my colleagues asked some high schoolers about whom they admire or respect most except their teachers or parents, many of whom responded that Barack Obama is their hero.

Remember when the people of Israel asked Samuel for a king. Not only Samuel the prophet but God was furious about their request. They looked for a mighty and powerful king to lead them like other nations did. This request truly sinned against God. Samuel said to the Israelites in 1 Samuel 12:17, “Then you will realize how wicked you have been in asking the Lord God for king!”

Who are we looking for to lead us in our Christian walk? A spiritual pastor, a godly brother/sister, or a knowledgeable Bible teacher? It’s better to ask for Jesus than for man.
