Making Room For Jesus

Once in a while some friends of mine would visit us in Taipei. Since they didn’t have a place to stay, I would ask them to stay in my spare room. The time we spent together under the same roof has made our friendship strong and long-lasting.

As Jesus approached the city of Jerusalem for the Passover Festival, he told his disciples to go into the city, followed a man carrying a jar of water until he entered a house and then asked the owner of the house, “Where is my teacher’s guest room, where he may eat the Passover with his disciples?” Jesus must have many friends and they enjoyed his company while he visited  each town of the land of Israel. One time he stayed in a friend’s house healing the diseased and teaching about the kingdom of God. Another time he would just enjoy their company; he stayed in Martha and Mary’s house and Mary sat at his feet listening to his words.

Do we have a “guest room” for Jesus in our heart?  Are the rooms in our hearts fully occupied with cares, worries and  lust of this world? He is knocking at the door and delights in coming in and enjoy your company. Make room in your heart available for Jesus.
