A Life of Vision

The information ear has long arrived as any individual can transfer information freely and get instant access to knowledge easily.  Mass media plays a significant role in shaping the public thinking. Truth be told, we barely ponder whether the information or knowledge we’ve received is indeed beneficial to us or not. Sometimes we stick to our own thinking tenaciously; other times we follow the crowd mindlessly. Our inner voice are drowned out by the buzzing world.

At the time when God called Samuel to be his priest, the message of God was quite rare in those days according to the Bible. The Lord usually spoke to his prophets through dreams and visions, but they were extremely unusual in Samuel’s days (1 Samuel 3:1). Didn’t God want to reveal his will to his people? How could God withdraw his messages and visions from his people? The problem is not from God, but man. In Judges 21:25, at the end of this book,  God said, “In those days Israel had no king, so the people did whatever seemed right in their own eyes. The people were not concerned with the will of God, but they were concerned about their daily lives, having their personal agenda and how to please themselves.

How will God reign in us if we are filled with our own thinking and ideas? How will a Christian live without the messages, dreams, and visions from God? Today, let us surrender our own agenda and have his will only.
