James Dobson, chairman of Focus on the Family, announced his resignation from the ministry he founded three decades ago. He said in a newsletter statement that “one of the common errors of founder-president is to hold to the reins of leadership too long, thereby preventing the next generation from being prepared fro executive authority” (Worldmag.com). In spite of his resignation, Dobson will continue to host on the Focus on the Family radio program, speaking out his Christian perspectives on family and social issues.
In contrast to Dobson’s resignation from the post of founder and CEO of his ministry, many big corporate or organization CEOs are holding their leadership posts until the end of their lives; they are not willing to give up their power and authority; they claim that the companies they’ve founded belong to them.
In Luke17:7-10, Jesus spoke of unworthy servants, who have done everything they were told to do. The servants owned nothing, but the owner, the Father, did. When Abraham were called to leave his hometown, he didn’t know where he was going. He lived like a stranger in the promised land, because he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God (Hebrews 11:10).
