The Word In Authority

Jesus started his ministry often at local Jewish temples where he taught the Word of God, healed the sick and cast out demons from. The people there were always astonished at his teachings, for he taught with real authority unlike the scribes, the teachers of religious law.

The scribes are the intellectuals  who study and search the Scriptures, and teach them to the ordinary Jewish people. They are experts in the knowledge of God. However, Jesus rebuke them against their disbelief, “You search the scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that testify on my behalf. Yest you refuse to come to me to have life.” The teachers of religious law were full of head knowledge. They didn’t believe that the Word of God had become Jesus himself and the power of God which could heal the leprosy, drive out evil spirits, and even raise the deal had given him. Jesus is “I am who I am.”

Nowadays Many Christians are still doubting the power of God. They thought signs or miracles only occurred in the Bible but not in moder world. But God is a living God, “the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).
