Day by day, day by day, Oh dear Lord! Three things I pray. To see thee more clearly; to love thee more dearly; to follow thee more nearly. Day by day.
This morning as my wife and I worshipped the Lord, this beautiful hymn came across to me. This song serves as a reminder to all Christians not noly as to what their priority in life is, but how they become true followers of Christ. To see the Lord more clearly is to read and study the Word of God which is the Bible diligently and heartily. To love the Lord more dearly is to put God’s Word into action, to show God’s love toward people, even the undeserved, the lowly, and our enemies. To follow the Lord more nearly is to be led by the Spirit of God and to fulfill God’s will in our lives at the end of a day.
In Luke 10:41-42, Jesus said to Martha you are worried and troubled about too many thing. “There is only one thing worth being concerned about.” That “one thing” is to listen to Him attentively and obey His words wholeheartedly.
