The Nightfall of Life

Walking out of a Chunghwa Telecom branch office, a nightfall just landed before me as if King Kong were looming over the Dazhi neighborhood. I moved my glasses up a bit to see the words on a billboard just a stone’s throw away, but I couldn’t catch them exactly. I looked at my watch that read only 5:10 p.m and it wouldn’t be as dark as tonight this time around. Then I realized that the cold fronts had remained in Taipei for a couple of days and the sky was cloudy and overcast.

As much as the cold fronts bring early nightfalls, troubles or afflictions could lead us into mental or spiritual darkness. In the time of tribulation we are groping and searching to find a way out or keep staying in the dark down in the dumps. Depression and hopelessness prevails. But as the sun is still shining behind clouds before nightfall, for every believer the light of Christ remains forever as long as we draw near to His light that will lead us to brightness and eternity, for He is the way (John 14:6).

Do not dismayed at walking in the dark as if the death of darkness are swallowing you up. The Bible says, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me” (Psalm 23:4).  He is walking and leading us until eternity.
