Caught With His Hand In The Cookie Jar

John Edwards, a former U.S. Democratic presidential candidate, confessed he had an affair with Rielle Hunter on August 8, which happens to be Father’s Day in Taiwan. ironically Edwards received a “Father of the Year” award in 2007 given out by The National Father’s Day Committee. Edwards had denied several times having an affair with a mistress since the National Enquirer published a story claiming it had caught him meeting with a mistress and illegitimate child.

How could a man receive the outstanding father award but cheat on his wife and his children? Well, it may happen to anyone if he doesn’t hold himself accountable before God. David, the second king of Israel, committed adultery with Bathsheba, wife of Uriah. David tried to cover this sexual sin by calling Uriah back home, but Uriah refused to go home and instead slept at the palace entrance with other soldiers. David then commanded his general to send Uriah to the front line where the battle was the fiercest and had him killed. David thought no one knew his sinful and cruel act toward Uriah; however, God sent Nathan the prophet to told him the Lord was very displeased with what he had done.

Can we get away with what we have done? If we let our heart hardened, we’ll surely get caught with our hands in the cookie jar.
