Change Is Our Destiny

In the latest mayor election in a remote Romanian town, Mayor Neculai Ivascu though he just died of liver failure won the election garnering 23 more votes than another candidate. The townspeople has long grown accustomed to the leadership. Asked why he voted for the dead mayor, a townspeople said, “I know he died, but I don’t want change.”

Change at times means instability or inscurity.  In Isaiah 43:18-19, God said to his people, “Forget the former (old) things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!” Our God is the God of eternal living who is moving forward; he is always leading us ahead of us until we reach where he has promised to us. Let us forget what lies behind and reach forward to what lies ahead until we receive the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus (Phil. 3:13-14).
