Baby birds are being given singing lessons in order to survive when they are released into the wild. In the U.K., wildlife officers are playing the recordings of birds to a great number of orphaned fledglings which are normally taught how to sing by their parents. According to the officers, the ability to sing is critical for male birds as it declares their territory to rivals and attracts a mate. Raised in captivity the orphaned young birds are inevitablly left at a serious disadvantage. The singing lessons, therefore, help them become good singers and better survive in the wild.
