An Alien Mom

Tom was a school-aged boy, whose mother was from Indonesia and couldn’t read and write Chinese. Tom was envious of his classmates because their mothers could study with them and even check their homework. Tom was ashamed of talking about his mother before his classmates. One day, his mother brought a lunch box to him, but he told his classmates that the lady was his maid, not his mother. One the way home his mother had a car accident and was hospitalized. And then Tom realized that he was hurting his mom and decided to love her ‘alien mom.’

With more and more alien workers coming to Taiwan looking for jobs, how do we treat these foreigners? Do we treat them with respect or contempt? As God commanded his people, do not mistreat or oppress a foreigner; remember that you were foreigners in Egypt (Exodus 22:21).
