Many leading academics and scholars yesterday attended Dr. Wu’s funeral service, former education minister and Academic Sinica research fellow. They offered their condolences and praised Wu’s contributions to Taiwan’s education reforms — creating and promoting multilateral channels for admission into the colleges and universities for high school graduates, and reinforcing vocational education.
We read in Ecclesiastes 7 that it is better to go to a funeral than to a festival. Death is everyone’s destination of life. No one can escape it whether he is an intellectual or illiterate, a king or beggar. Don’t be like a fool thinking we’ll live forever. Sometimes we won’t live carefully and wisely until we come to realize that we’re approaching death. What matters is we still have breath and then live it to the fullest.
