Complaint or compliment, a way of thinking

The JCEE pass rate hit the record high this year at  roughly 95 percent released by the Joint Board of the College Recruitment Commission, which means that almost every student who tooke this year’s examination are able to get accepted into one college or university.

Some critics have blamed the highly rising acceptance rate over a new batch of universities accredited by the Ministry of Education. They have criticized overal college student ability and performance have deteriorated year by year. They speculate that in the near future ability levels of college students would be on a par with those of high school students.  In some respect, those worries and concerns above are right on target, but what concerns me most is how we as teachers facilitate students in learing and enhance their abiilities to meet or beyond our expectations.  Instead of complaining about the students’ weaknesses, the teacher can choose to compliment them on their strengths.
