Last night I was invited to watch the annual senior play titled The servant of Two Masters. To quench his ever-present starvation, the servant Truffaldino eventually served two masters, who happnened to be lovers. The play is comedy, which ends up with a happy ending. But in the process of serving his two masters at banquets, Truffaldino came to realize that he weighted himself down doing the service. At the same time, he was still starving without getting any for his stomach.
In Matthew 6:24, Jesus said, “No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will devoted to the one and despite the other. You cannot serve both God and mammon.” As a Christian I know He is my shepherd. My sheperd will supply my need.
