Bitter but sweet

As Jesus was about to enter Jerusalem, he knew something terrible would be happening to him.  The Jewish leaders would arrest him and nail him on the cross.  But Jesus did not hesitate but go straight ahead. He put the Father’s  will over his own desire.  He knew his life was to glorify God and to fulfill His will and purpose, even to surrender his own life.

Being a follower of Jesus keeps reminding me of taking up my cross and following our Great Shepherd.  Following Jesus means putting His character, His will, and His ways into action in all that we do.  Sometimes it could be hard and bitter when it comes to submitting ourselves to God.  The reward Jesus has promised is sweet and pleasing.
