With various entrance exams coming near, school kids are getting ready for what they’ve been studying; that is to be accepted to top schools. Parents and teachers are also trying hard to help their children to realize their dreams. No one wants to be left behind and are desperate to come on top, to be winner not a loser.
One day a rich young ruler (one of Jewish leaders) came running after Jesus, asking what he must do to gain eternal life. Jesus looked at this young man affectionately and said to him, “Obey the commandments.” The man said in reply, ” I’ve done all of thses since I was a child. Jesus said to him,”You still lack one thing; go sell everything you have, give the proceeds to the poor, and then follow me.” Crestfallen the young man left Jesus. The young man was a “good”, successful and powerful leader (ruler) as far as the worldly standard is concerned. Compared to this man, Jesus’ disciples had nothing. They have left everything and followed Jesus. But at the end of the conversation Jesus said them, “Many now who are first end up last, but many now who are last end up first.”
